Long Distance Relationship (LDR) : 20 tips from Buzzfeed Community

Auzubillahi minas syaitanir rajim Bismillahirrahmanirrahim... Assalamualaikum...

♪ I need you so much closer. ♪

We asked members of the BuzzFeed Community to tell us their, best tips for surviving a long distance relationship. Here are their responses.

by Candice Dardeen

1. Keep your walls down and be open about your emotions, the good and the bad. Little obstacle can become mountains when you're apart.
(submitted by Catherine Crowley)

2.“I sent my husband a sapphire ring of mine, that he would carry around everywhere,
and he sent me t-shirts that smelled of him that I could wear at night so it was, like I was getting a cuddle from him. There’s something soothing about having something physical that they’ve touched in your hands.
(submitted by Danni Little)

3. “Don’t be afraid to send photos. It may seem egotistical, or you may be uncomfortable with selfies, but they do want to see your face and there is never enough of your face to see, so keep sending them those photos. It varies from person to person, but sharing an intimate moment, while awkward at first, can really help.”

(Submitted by Yukio Aqualine Kirk Owen.)

4. We played video games every day, like scrabble, Uno or Battleship. It meant we could have fun together without necessarily being able to talk or see each other."
(Submitted by Val Heartday.)

5. "To keep our sanity, we had to designate date nights."
(submitted by Emily Leykum)

6.  “There will be times when long distance sucks. Like really, really sucks. And the only person who can make you feel better is the one person you can’t be with at that moment. It’s OK to let yourself feel the emotions of those moments; cry, punch a pillow, write it down, whatever you need to do. But don’t keep feelings in and don’t feel like you need to keep those feelings from your SO, because they are the one person who completely understands what you’re feeling. So let yourself be in that sucky moment and know that it will pass.”
(submitted by sara48bc9cb2f)

7.“Have conversations constantly, about the big things and the little things. When you do see each other make a point to do mundane things as well as fun, like go grocery shopping together. Keep life as “real” as you can. There are cool apps that allow you to watch Netflix shows in sync with each other (Doctor Who got us through a lot) and Skype is wonderful.”
(Submitted by Molly Jane Sisson).

8. “Believe me, after three years of long distance I've come to realize that sometimes you have to go the extra mile. My girlfriend texts me 100 times more than I text her, I visit her 10 times more often than she visits me, she makes the effort to call me or write me way more than I do for her. But we don’t keep score. We each do what we are able to make this work.”
(Submitted by Steven H92)

9. Me: "I've learned to be more open with him.."; You "...since talking is all we have while we are away"
(submitted by kelly4ad8ee6e2)

10. “Don’t play the power games to try and see who cares less/more, or who hurts less/more. But most importantly, I think, learn to live without each other and appreciate how much lovelier you feel with them in your life. Learn that you don’t need each other. You want each other. That’s the real glue.”

(Submitted by besotteddottie)

11. “There will be people who are skeptical and that’s fine, just make sure that you don’t let this affect the both of you who are actually in the relationship. As long as you respect and trust each other and you know how to make the relationship work best for both of you, who cares what other people say. It’s all about you and your SO, not them, anyway. :)”
(Submitted by Denise Ailen F. Jacela)
12. "Don't try to cram in a lot of stuff to do when you see each other. Make time for mellow time together." (Submitted by Michelle Marshall-Behunin)
13. “Make sure that you always say good night and good morning, even if it’s just a text with a sun because you’re hungover. Also, having a scheduled time to talk helps us since I have a crazy busy schedule.” (Submitted by Azure Arnot.)
14. “We wrote letters to each other a lot and sent care packages which gave us something to look forward to. Counting down the days until you get to see each other also really helps — even if the number is scarily big!” (Submitted by Megan Amirghiasvand)
15. “You need to seriously trust this person: Scrutinizing everything and constantly questioning them only makes things worse, we both learned that quickly. Your sex life will take a huge toll, so you need to get creative.” (Submitted by Alisha Cogdell)
16. Don't avoid talking about the difficult things...communication issues will make or break you." (Submitted by Molly Jane Sisson.)
17. “My parents met on a Greek ferry and they are from two different countries. They wrote love letters back and forth to each other (by post) for a year without seeing each other and met up and married. And 20 years later, they are still just as in love. They are proof that distance only makes the heart grow fonder. Oh P.S. they still have the letters. ♥” (Submitted by Aleisha Gould)
18. “My husband and I spent a year and a half apart before marriage, and then another ten months after. For my own sanity it was important that I didn't give up on doing my own things, always wanting him to be with me. And by living my own adventures I always had stories to tell and to confide in him. That independence brought us closer together.”(Submitted by Emma Persaud)
19. “I’ve been in a long distance relationship for nearly three and a half years. I tell people that I treat it much like an actual break up: relying on friends, focusing on school/work/hobbies, and keeping myself busy helps soothe the loneliness. As for the actual relationship, my biggest tip is TRUST and PATIENCE.” (Submitted by Brianna Leonard).
20. "Never give up, because the next time you get to hold your significant other in your arms, and squeeze them just a little too tight; the months spent apart will all be worth it. (Submitted by StevenH92.)

P/s: It's something for me, to remember although its not easy....no not easy...and yes we are arguing again T_T

Chenor-Serdang-Nanding-Sunway-Taman Tasik Perdana-Kg Baru-Nanding-Shah Alam-Nanding-Pekeliling-Chenor

Auzubillahi minas syaitanir rajim Bismillahirrahmanirrahim... Assalamualaikum...

Salam pembaca yang dikasihi sekalian, masya Allah lama sungguh saya tak post ape-ape...sungguh "vibe" hilang...plus sekarang ade interest lain...waiting for his messages ;p....hehe...It's so sad when I think i have tons travelogue...urghh....wake up Laily!!! hehe I will I will finish it all :)) Insya Allah.

Anyway this my escape trip setelah sekian lama...asyik ulang alik KL sebab hal orang lain aje...kali ini I wanna hang out with my BFF gurls...and of course melawat sahabat lama....hmm tapi tulah tak sempat nak catch up semua...Ampun sangat-sangat pada yang saya tak sempat jumpa...tak sempat 2 hari 1 malam...itupun saya tambah semalaman lagi....Insya Allah ade peluang kita jumpe...bukan kita taknak jumpe tau tau tau? Please tolong faham....^__^

Harga tiket??? RM11.30 aje...hmm rasanye lah...jadinye kalau pergi balik...saya hanya perlukan RM22.60, jimat tak? hehe jimat sangat nak gi KL berbanding guna kereta.

Pagi-pagi lagi my dearest sister willing to drive me to Terminal bas temerloh, dalam pukul 6.50am...ye lah sebabnye saya nak naik bas pukul 7.30am..itulah seawal-awal paginye bas yg ade, nak pergi awal tak dapat ada hal...Alhamdulillah saya dapat tiket. Jom gi KL!!! ngeee...(waktu ni tengah gaduh, hmm tak cakap pun saya pergi KL)

Alhamdulillah, dalam pukul 9.30am saya sampai di stesyen bas Pekeliling, saya memang tak plan n research pun pasal ni...mana yg lebih cepat sampai di KL...tapi matlamat saya saya nak pergi Kl sentral dulu, then terus ke serdang, bukan ape..supaya Zizah boleh pick up saya...hmm dah lama..dah lama tak naik LRT...ahaks...Dari Stesyen LRT Titiwangsa ke LRT Masjid Jamek, interchange another LRT, to KL SEntral stesyen. Hehe ade jugak yang tanye pasal nak naik stesyen mana....tapi saya pun teragak2 dah lama tak naik LRT dan komuter ni...muke saya ni agaknye senang orang nak tanye kot..hehe..

credit to diorg gambar ni hehe

Alhamdulillah, dalam 10.30 saya sampai di stesyen Serdang, zizah dah siap tunggu, ngee...terus ke Nanding rumah Nana...borak borak dalam keta...dan bila sampai kat Nanding, biasalah Noraslina tak siap lagi...huhu...kene jadi ala-ala suri rumah...maklumlah Mak n Ayah pergi Haji...sambil makan kuih rumah nana tunggu dia siap...dalam pukul berapa kami keluar rumah nana pun tak pasti sebab jam jugak menghala pergi rumah Nana..dah agak lambat pun...agakye dalam dalam kul 12 lebih pergi Sunway Pyramid kot dah tak ingat sangat...Miza kami janji jumpa kat Sunway aje...

Alkisah kawan kita ni nak ambik barang angkut habis-habisan hehe...dia pindah tempat kerja lagi...masya Allah...teringat dulu-dulu...rasa macam satu tempat kerja pulak...syahdu....Kami solat kat bawah ofis sunway dulu, and then Kami pergi lepak kat sunway pyramid...

Ahaks bukanlah lepak tapi lunch...sungguh perut rasa lapar...so pusing pusing punya pusing semua nak nasi...kami makan di...jeng jeng jeng...Chicken Rice Shop check banyak package menarik...yg bagusnya kami 4 orang...tapi cukup ambil pacjage tuk 3 orang sungguh banyak lauknya...sedap Alhamdulillah...:)

borak punye borak punye borak....sampai semua cerita lah....hehe...tak henti henti kot...hmm and diorg ade cari barang sket..shopping...Saya??? eheh hanya membeli belah tingkap aje...ahaks...:))

Sunway-Taman Tasik Perdana-Kg Baru-Nanding

Frankly speaking saya masih holding tak beli camera lagi...aduish...huhu....entah bila....tak sempat...bajet sudah ade...belum lagi...so all the pictures are credit to my friends...anyway cerita pergi Taman Tasik Perdana...tak dirancang pun...tak pernah singgah dan tak pernah pergi pun...ahaks...selamanye sejak belajar sampai lah kerje di KL...haru tak? baru nampak kat KL pun ade taman yg canteeeeek....hahaha...cume kene sentiasa manage dan diawasi...

Banyak ruang tuk beriadah dan berpiknik, jogging, berselfie...bergambar...canteeek....

What I think so lacking in Malaysia...bukan kekurangan tempat yg menarik untuk dilawati tapi, management dan penjagaan tempat tersebut, ini permerhatian saya dari dulu lagi, ke gunung, bukit, laut, pantai, air panas, dan sebagainya...bukan sahaja pihak pengurusan tapi kita juga sebagai pelawat...masyarakat...sikap paling mudah kebersihan tandas, tempat solat, pembuangan sampah...kalau kita tak jaga siapa lagi betul tak?

Hehe...so fikir-fikirlah pembaca yg dikasihi sekalian...

Lepas solat kami pergi mamam...nasi bubur....Ziza teringin nak makin nasi bubur berlauk kat Suraya Seafood, saya tak pernah dengar tapi memang katenye best...heheh...mmg sedap...patut order bende lain lagi....dengar kata maggi kerabunya sedap....heheh...tapi dalam sebab tak biasa pergi kampung baru, parking jauh nasib baik parking jauh kena jalanlah skit tapi okay aje...ade 2 tempat namenya restoran seafood...jangan tersalah tempat macam kami pembaca semua...so pastikan yang dekat dengan Masjid kampung baru...santan pulut durian...kene pergi lagi pasai ade yang tak rase lagi....

After that straight away balik Nanding...tido rumah Nana...hehe...Good Night :))

Eh wait!!...hahaha singgah dulu di Kedai minum air jap..Jumpe En Hasan kita, dah lama akak tak jupe adik sorang ni...wow wow...banya cites....bersabarlah kawan2 semua...insya Allah dipermudahkan dan Allah tunjukkan jalan pada kita semua...balik hampir kul 1 pagi..ahaks dah lama tak buat kerja macam ni....

Okay baru betul Good Night hehehe :))

Nanding-Shah Alam-Nanding-Pekeliling-Chenor

Alhamdulillah, hari Ahad pula menjelma...ada sesi nanges pulak pagi tu...anyway pagi tu kami siap pergi breakfast di Bahulu Klasik, di Hulu Langat...waah mase kerjee sini dulu dulu takde, ade kedai aje...hmmm yumm...dah ada cafe pulak...saya makan soto...teringin yang sup sup sahaja...Ziza try Mee...alamak tak ingat pulak dah namanya...mee rebus, mee jawa...haaa yes Mee rebus...miza ambik sama...Nana nasi lemak pandan...okay baru tahu yg trending sekarang ialah cycling...okeh!!

Terima kasih atas buah tangan bahulu n kueh bakar ye...suker sangat diaorg...hehe

Teringat pulak santai cycling dengan zizah kat putrajaya dulu

So dalam pada tu sibuk ajak kawan hasan ikut sekali...ahaks...pergi Shah ALam, anyway kami janji jumpe terus kat rumah Azie kat Bukit Cahaya SPK ni...eh betul tak rumah ni? hehe sorry ye kalau salah...:))

Kalau ikutkan plan nak balik dah petang ni...tapi tahu memang macam dah tak sempat nak kejar balik naik bas pukul 6.30pm...huhu dari Shah Alam kot...itu salah satu kekuranganpublic transport...kene ikut jadual die..tak bleh ikut sesuka hati...alih-alih diaorg suggest kata balik esok ajerlah (Monday)...uhuhu...kene minte Duli dulu, dah pas okeh...huhu nasib baik budak2 ni masih cuti lagi ada Angah teman kan...

Catch up Azie kepoh cam biasa...suaranye makin kuat...huhu anak dah 4 kot...memanglah...hehe rindu ngat kat Azie...tak puas jumpe ponn...ada tetamu lain gak...takpelah at least dapat jupe....:)))

Lepas tu kami ni macam taknak balik aje...lepas maghrib jugak keluar dari rumah Azie..huhu cam buat rumah sendiri...huhu...cite tak habis....habis aku bagitau...

hmmm...I have to tell them....even its not full story, I hope you don't mind...I'm so happy that I could, which I never ever to tell anyone before...cause you the first one say yes to me...the first one to confirm to me that I wasn't dreaming, doesn't misunderstanding, doesn't clap one hand alone...I just couldn't told them the whole story...well not everyone..no yet..maybe later, soon..when you come here or you here...I miss you <3 <3 <3...I don't like it when we arguing...

Sampai hantar miza dulu, kat rumah sewa dia...then kami balik ke Nanding tido satu malam lagi dengan Nana dan Kucing die...huhuhu....

pagi breakfast dulu roti bom, then drop kat LRT BTS...terus ke titiwangsa...naik bas kul 10.50am...nak katakan rezeki kejar bas 10.30am..rupenye masih tak sampai ke pekeliling...sempat beli tiket..

Alhamdulillah sampai dalam kul 2pm di rumah...

Thanks sahabat2 ku semua kerana sudi meluangkan masa minggu mu dengan gadis kampung ini :)) Ada rezeki dan jodoh kita jumpa lagi :)) Insya Allah.
